About Me

Krista brings to her yoga practice the mind-body awareness she learned
starting at the age of 2 as a competitive gymnast and, later, studying dance.
Her serious study of yoga began following the onset of fibromyalgia as a way of dealing with pain while finding peace and reconnecting with her core self
and with others. Krista is a Registered Yoga Teacher, having completed the
mentor. Her classes reflect this tradition, along with a focus on alignment,
energy, and meditation, based on Hatha yoga. In her personal practice,
Krista has also studied Kundalini, Anusara, and Iyengar yoga, as well as
kirtan.
Krista has taught yoga in Japan, DC, Virginia and Ohio. She has studied
with Cyndi Lee, Dean Lerner, Jai Uttal, and Sonia Sumar, and is a
certified practitioner of Yoga for the Special Child(R). Krista's
classes and private instruction offer the benefits of yoga to all
ability levels, from experienced yogis and yoginis to beginners. Her
background in social work, along with her personal experience using yoga
to overcome physical pain, gives her keen insight into the special needs
of those with disabilities. Krista is an inspiring teacher who's
serious about yoga and light on life. One day Krista hopes to have her own yoga studio in town, a green yoga retreat
in the country, and her own homestead where she will grow all of the veggies,
fruit and nuts for her family. Right now, Krista is a part time yoga teacher and
full time mom to her toddler Willow Prana and newborn baby Nyima.

Manisha Tare is now teaching Thursdays. More about her!
Manisha has been studying yoga for over a decade. In 2002, she was fortunate enough to encounter an anusara yoga class and has been steadily deepening her study and practice along this path. She completed a 200 hour teacher training in New York in the spring of 2008 and currently teaches in Washington DC. She is grateful for her practice of yoga and meditation and views the practice of yoga as a continuous exploration of the mind, body, and spirit. Manisha has a special interest in children's and prenatal yoga. She hopes to encourage her students to find the goodness and beauty in themselves as well as everything around them. When she is not practicing, Manisha provides training and technical assistance to American Indian and Alaska Native Early Head Start programs that provide services to infants, toddlers, and pregnant women.
